Maximum Carnage!
This is “From a Different Point of View,” a feature where I discuss a comic book series with other people. Ever since the pandemic began, I’ve been doing twice-weekly reader chats about notable comic book crossovers, storylines or miniseries. We started with Secret Wars and then we did Knightfall and now we’re starting with Maximum Carnage!
Each time around, I’ll share a chunk of our discussion.
When last we checked in on Maximum Carnage, we were discussing Spider-Man #35, Maximum Carnage Part 4, “Team Venom,” by Howard Mackie, Tom Lyle and Scott Hanna with letters by Rick Parker and colors by Ericka Moran and Kevin Tinsley.
Back in August, a rumor surfaced that Sony’s Venom movies may be adapting the “Maximum Carnage” comic book storyline featuring Venom, Spider-Man and Carnage, which would mean Tom Holland would appear alongside Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson.
With the casting of Shriek for Venom 2, as I also pointed out, now THR is offering that the Venom movies may be adapting “Maximum Carnage” as well. While the site doesn’t offer any insider knowledge, the article basically puts the pieces together as recent rumors have:
It seems doubtful that Venom 2 will be a straight adaptation of Maximum Carnage, given the wide cast of characters that event brought together. But next summer’s Morbius, starring Jared Leto, seems likely to feature some mention of Venom, or even a post-credit appearance before the character returns in full in October. And with a Black Cat solo film in the works, the central characters are being put in play. And given Marvel Studios Kevin Fiege’s recent comments about Spider-Man’s future in the MCU and outside of it, the crossover potential seems more likely than ever. If we’re lucky, the presence of Shriek is an echo of something much larger in the distance.
The malicious and destructive Carnage from Spider-Man returns to the FINE ART STATUE line.
The intense carving and details in the face of this creature combined with the madness that can only be recreated to the highest level of degree through cold cast exemplifies a level of finish that greatly exceeds the last statue in the FINE ART STATUE line.
A deadly symbiotic attack from Carnage is fully recreated with the steel sharp tendrils emerging from its body. These five tendrils can be exchanged with normal symbiote tendrils included with this statue to recreate other various looks and poses.
Users can thus fully experience the sheer volume that is brought about by this 1/6 scale statue.
While this statue by itself is already full of impact as it shows a scene of Carnage attacking from the top of a crumbling building on the brink of collapse, but by using the included expansion base, users can also attach ARTFX Venom to this statue to recreate the battle between the two symbiotes.
The intense battle scene from the legendary crossover comic “MAXIMUM CARNAGE” is brought to life through the supreme quality of the FINE ART STATUE series in this voluminous “Maximum Statue”!
